Our Approach
The Counter Check is committed to publishing health information that is accurate, balanced, and based on the best available evidence at the time of writing. Every article is researched and written by a registered pharmacist, with a focus on helping readers better understand medications, medical conditions, supplements, nutrition, lab tests, and other health topics.
Are Articles Medically Reviewed?
At this time, not every article undergoes a separate medical review before publication.
Because I research and write the content myself as a registered pharmacist, each article is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and consistency before it is published. However, unless otherwise stated, articles are not independently reviewed by another healthcare professional.
Whenever an article has been independently reviewed, the reviewer’s name, credentials, and the date of review will be clearly displayed on the page.
When Is Medical Review Required?
As The Counter Check continues to grow, I plan to prioritize independent medical review for content that involves:
- Clinical recommendations
- Complex medical conditions
- High-risk or rapidly evolving topics
- Articles where additional specialist expertise would benefit readers
Writing vs. Medical Review
Writing and medical review serve different purposes.
Writing focuses on researching, organizing, and explaining health information in a way that’s informative and understandable. Medical review is an additional step where another qualified healthcare professional evaluates the article for clinical accuracy, completeness, and consistency with current medical knowledge.
Looking Ahead
Medical knowledge continues to evolve, and so will The Counter Check.
As the website grows, I hope to work with other healthcare professionals to expand the medical review process and continue improving the quality of every article published. Any changes to this policy will be reflected on this page.
