What is The Counter Check?
The Counter Check is a health education website where I write about medications, supplements, medical conditions, nutrition, lab tests, and the health questions people ask every day.
As a registered pharmacist, I’ve seen how confusing health information can be. Whether it’s understanding a new prescription, making sense of a diagnosis, interpreting lab results, or deciding whether something read online is accurate, people are often left with more questions than answers.
I created The Counter Check to make reliable, evidence-based health information easier to understand. Every article is researched using current medical evidence and written with the goal of explaining complex topics in clear, practical language without unnecessary jargon. My focus is on helping readers understand the “why” behind their health, so they can have more informed conversations with their healthcare providers and make better-informed decisions.
Health information is constantly evolving, and so is this website. As new evidence and recommendations become available, I continue reviewing and updating articles to reflect what we know today. My hope is that every article you read leaves you feeling more informed, more confident, and better equipped to understand your health.
Intentions Behind TCC:
I’ve always enjoyed writing, and becoming a pharmacist gave me the opportunity to combine that with something that could help other people.
Throughout pharmacy school, I realized that many of the questions people ask don’t always have straightforward answers. Health advice is everywhere – on social media, in advertisements, on podcasts, and across thousands of websites. Some of it is helpful, some of it leaves out important context, and sometimes different sources seem to contradict each other.
On the other hand, the information healthcare professionals rely on is often written for other healthcare professionals. Research papers, clinical guidelines, and medical journals can answer those same questions, but they aren’t always easy for someone without a medical background to work through.
There’s a saying that pharmacists are among the most accessible healthcare professionals. People come to us with questions every day, and I wanted The Counter Check to reflect that same role by creating a place where people can take their time, learn at their own pace, and come away understanding a little more than they did before.
TCC Mission:
My mission is to answer the question that brought you here while helping you better understand the topic as a whole. Medicine is constantly evolving, and so is our understanding of health. I’ll continue learning alongside it, and I hope The Counter Check continues to grow the same way.
As it grows, one thing won’t change: education will always come first. Every article I publish will be guided by that commitment.
What I Publish:
The Counter Check covers a wide range of health topics. While the website will continue to grow over time, here’s what you can expect to find:
- Educational articles that explain medications, supplements, medical conditions, nutrition, lab tests, and other everyday health topics.
- Research summaries that break down new studies and explain what the findings actually mean.
- Comparisons that look at different medications, supplements, treatments, or health products to help readers understand their differences.
- Fact checks that examine common health claims, trends, and misinformation using current evidence.
- Buying guides that help readers make informed decisions when choosing health-related products, with education remaining the priority.
- Healthcare news and updates covering new research, treatment developments, guideline changes, and other important topics as they happen.
- Editorial articles where I share my thoughts, experiences, and perspectives on pharmacy, healthcare, and health education.
